We are currently reading for our annual spring issue! Please see guidelines below:

Group your submission in a single, typed document: Word or PDF document only. Translations must include a copy of the work in its original language and the translator is responsible for the author’s permission to use his or her material. Please use serif fonts like Times New Roman, Garamond, Calibri, or Georgia.

Cover Letter: in your cover letter, be sure to include a third-person bio.

We consider (up to 5 pages total):

  • Poetry ( 3-5 poems) - all poems are automatically considered for our Editors' Prize.
  • Translations of poetry (3-5 poems)

We do not consider:

  • More than one submission per reading period
  • Work that has been previously published on any website or in any print publication
  • Work already planned for publication in a chapbook, book, or elsewhere
  • Unsolicited reviews
  • Unsolicited interviews

Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but please withdraw any poems that are accepted elsewhere by leaving us a note in Submittable.

We encourage writers of color, disabled writers, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and any other marginalized folks to submit.

The Hiram Poetry Review does not tolerate submissions including racism, transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia, or any other discrimination against marginalized groups.

We use Submittable to accept and review our submissions.
